* Emotional Development
Young adolescents develop at different times and in different ways. When adolescents challenge authority or distance themselves from parents, it is a part of emotional development. This is a time that an adolescent is seeking to assert independence and create a self-identity.
Be prepared for your adolescent to spend more time with friends and less time with family. The child who once asked for help in everything may now reject help in anything. In addition, they may no longer confide in you and may want more privacy. Continue to monitor your adolescent’s activities.
